Berry Dunston is a registered clinical counsellor and psychotherapist who has many years of lived and professional experience.
Now in Private Practice in North Hobart, Berry was previously with Relationships Australia, Tasmania as a Counsellor to individuals, couples and families. Prior to that, Berry was in Private Practice in Sydney, Wollongong and Bowral, New South Wales.
Berry has many years experience as an Educator. Teaching parenting and therapeutic care skills, mindfulness and life skills courses, and lecturing in communication, human behaviour and management skills at University of NSW and University of Technology, Sydney.
Berry also brings to her work the experience of working through her own issues, using a number of therapeutic modalities. She is a student of comparative religion and philosophy, particularly enjoying her exploration of myths and teaching stories from ancient wisdoms.
Berrys professional training includes mindfulness training, Bowen Family of Origin family therapy, Humanistic - Person Centered therapy, Psychodynamic, Transpersonal and Analytic psychotherapy. She has also studied neurobiology as it relates to childhood developmental trauma and neglect. Her special interests include the impacts of our childhood experiences throughout life - and how they play out in our relationships and in society generally.
Berry has worked with Foster Children in Out of Home Care, their Carers and with parents who have lost their children to Child Protection. She developed a training program called A Foster Carers Toolbox to support the childs learning of emotional Self-Regulation skills.
Berry Dunston works with her clients by supporting them to make the changes in their lives that are important to them.
